Proton Suprima S Premium 1.6 CVT CFE Turbo 5 Star ANCAP

Rating 5 star ANCAP??

What is ANCAP. The Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) is Australasia's leading independent vehicle safety advocate. ANCAP provides consumers with transparent advice on
vehicle safety through its safety rating program. ANCAP recommends 5 star rated vehicles.

How Suprima been rated as 5 star.

Car safety ratings

Be guided by the stars.

ANCAP awards a star rating from 1 to 5 for each vehicle following independent crash tests by independent specialist laboratories.
New vehicles are awarded or deducted points based on a combination of test categories and scientific criteria. All vehicles are assessed under identical testings standards and conditions.
In all tests, dummies are used to measure the various forces on the occupants in a crash. The data gathered is then assessed, using internationally recognised protocols and star-ratings are determined for each crash test.
Observations are also made on the displacement of dummies during the crash, as well as the structural impact on the vehicle's occupant compartment.
Points are also awarded if the vehicle is fitted with safety features such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and seat belt reminders.
To achieve an ANCAP 5 Star rating, a vehicle must achieve the highest international recognised standards in all test categories.

The more stars, the better.

Occupants have twice the chance of being killed or seriously injured in an ANCAP 1 Star rated vehicle compared to an ANCAP 5 Star rated vehicle.
The diagrams below show typical injuries to the drive and passenger for each ANCAP Star rating in Frontal Offset Testing, conducted at 64 km/h.
In interpreting the colour results on the dummy diagrams for each star rating, it is important to note that a red and brown result (Poor & Weak respectively) on any limb or part of the body indicates that there is a high risk of serious injury or death resulting from that injury alone. Consumers should therefore not assume that an injury to the foot area - shown as red in both ANCAP 1 and 2 star rated vehicles - is necessarily less serious, or less life threatening, than the same crash result in other parts of the body.

How to reset Proton ECU or EMS 400?

ECU question: Can anybody here help me to reset Proton ECU with this? I want to  reset my ECU on my Satria 1.3 efi. Can anybody tell me the benefits of it, instead of sending it to Proton Edar to be tuned. I need detail steps on what to do, and the pros and cons. Its a Siemens ECU btw.
ECU /Seimens VDO latest version MMC

Answer: You can reset it by removing the 20AMP fuse (can't remember the rating) near the air filter. Usually 1-2 minutes is suffice,or a cup of coffee while it's been erased, will do. This will erase any error codes (which Proton guys always do). But, to be frank that does nothing to improve your engine performance.Siemens-PROTON ECU is not that complex compared to Merc ECUs that I've ever worked on.

Location of Proton ECU

If you left the fuse unplug, you can't even "fire up" your engine. That simple. unplug your negative battery for about 10 minutes minimum. or better yet, leave it overnight. downside is, you have to reset ur sound system again. else, find the fuse for your ECU and take it out for the same duration.
Drive the car as per normal after resetting. This will allow it to re-learn.
BTW, don't expect any decrease in FC, otherwise everyone wants to do it.

Even if you reset it, first it will run on the factory's default parameter and after like several days of driving, it will re-adjust to the current condition of the engine and other "modifications" you did. Back to square one after few days.Serious about tuning? Get a AFC controller rather than installing Brothers's Microcompressor. Or try to use wideband sensor instead of narrow band sensor that come in standard package.

Perodua MPV- latest updates on dyno

Perodua will be launching the new Perodua MPV/SUV very soon. I just got some sneak preview of the latest Perodua MPV , latest updates. Well, designwise, it is ok,,quite ok, and very nice though. The Perodua MPV will be based on the Toyota Passo Sette(also known as the Daihatsu Boon Luminas) and has been called the codename Perodua D46T for the development stage.

Perodua MPV Test Drive Unit

But, unlike any other MPVs, this Perodua MPV is just like Proton Exora. But accoding to Perodua’s head honcho Datuk Syed Hafiz has stated repeatedly to the mainstream media that the new Perodua D46T MPV is positioned mainly as a car with a large boot instead of an MPV (I believe the proper term for that is wagon). They won’t be trying to go head to head against the Exora or other MPVs, or at least that’s what they are saying now in the interviews that you see in the mainstream media every month.

It will be based on the recently announced new Indonesian-based MPV model that was announced in March this year and is currently still under development by Toyota and Daihatsu. Perodua will apply its own styling onto the model. The upcoming Perodua MPV is still pretty far off, set to roll off the production lines only in September 2009, but here is a rendered speculation by Theophilus Chin of how it will might look like. Based on an existing Toyota compact MPV, the styling for this three row MPV rendering is largely based off the Perodua Viva.

The timing for Perodua could not be any worse. After the launch of Exora, the only marketing maneuver option for P2 is to lower (significantly) on the road price of their MPV.
