Saving Money with Gas Rebate Credit Cards
More and more people are turning to credit cards offering rebates and other rewards on gas purchases to ease the pinch at the pump, particularly in these days of high gas prices. With cash back rebates as high as 5%, gas credit cards allows you to save a considerable amount on gas, particularly if you have a long commute or otherwise run up a lot of miles in your car.
In oversea, there is common practice the petrol rebate, unlike Malaysia. The situation is completely different where the petrol station itself really demanding about credit card...arrggg.
Other cards are general rewards cards, which offer higher rebates or rewards on certain purchases, such as gas, and grocery and drug store purchases. Here, the type of reward and the percentage earnings vary considerably from card to card. Some cards, like the Discover® Open RoadSM Card, let you earn 5% cash back up to a certain limit on gas purchases and auto maintenance expenses. With others, you get awarded in points or miles, redeemable for airline tickets, merchandise, and other types of rewards.
Fuel saving devices- magnet and catalysts
Magnets & Catalysts
These types of devices supposedly "line up the fuel ions" in order to make the fuel burn more completely and efficiently. They wrap a magnet around the fuel line and as the fuel passes by, it changes the burn properties of the fuel. The only problem is, magnets have no effect on fuel or the fuel "ions". I tested one such product that sold for over $300.00!!! The other type is a fuel catalyst. This type fits into the fuel line and as the fuel runs through it, special materials cause the fuel to "improve fuel performance in the areas of decreased fuel consumption reduced exhaust emissions and restored fuel properties."
Southwest Research Institute San Antonio Txtardec Fuels And Lubricants Research Facility (SwRI/TFLRF) tested three such devices and found "Under the conditions tested no fuel economy benefit was observed for the baseline device".
Next time around I will go into some other types of devices. but before I go let me leave you with this: the best way to improve gas mileage is to keep your engine well-tuned and check your tire pressure every time you fill up.

Fuel saving device- fuel additive
Fuel Additives
There are many types of fuel additives that make the same claims. These work with varying degrees of effectiveness. The most common are the fuel system cleaner types. These products claim to clean the fuel system and help keep fuel injectors operating at peak performance. It's a good idea, and some do work, but most are of questionable effectiveness at best. Now the rub here is if you live in a state that mandates all fuel sold contain a 10% ethanol blend, as I do. In that case, you are already getting the active ingredient in a fuel line cleaner: ethanol. Ethanol, or methanol, is also the ingredient used in fuel line antifreeze.
Fuel price prediction-calculation
The graph shows the projection of fuel hike for the past four years, from 2004 to 2008. Observe the gradient of gasoline or diesel during year 2005. There were three times of fuel price increment during 2005. An overall observation, the fuel price has linear relationship with number of year, as stated by the equation. This is very sickening situation if compared to my gross income. The major impact, as we'll notice definitely to lower income community..arrrghh so depressing..(:
How To Save Money On Car Loans
How To Save Money On Car Loans
If your credit rating is good, you should have no problem in negotiating a low interest rate. However, there are still basic principles, which apply during your search to find ways to save money on car loans. If you have a pile of credit card bills to pay and have made recent large purchases such as another car or a home, it is likely that your loan will have a higher interest rate. The object is to save money while negotiating your car loan.
Having a good credit report is an important asset and one of the basic requirements for saving money on car loans. You should always keep your payments current to avoid those nasty little 'late' notices that appear on your credit report. It is especially important that your debts be paid on time for a few months prior to applying for a car loan. You will be asked to list financial institutions in which you have accounts, and it's nice to be able to show some savings, too. Your credit score may be reduced which could prevent you from saving money on your car loan. Your credit score also dictates the interest rate on your loan.
Another way to save money on a car loan is to have a sizable down payment or trade-in. The less money you borrow the lower your total interest will be. To save yourself from a hassle while negotiating arrangements for a car loan, it is helpful to be pre-approved for the amount of money you need to finance your car.
There are many financial institutions more than willing to finance a car for you. A reputable lender is obviously going to make some profit or they wouldn't be in the business of lending money. You can use a traditional lender such as banks, credit unions, etc., but you should also compare their interest rates with the online lenders as well.
Most car dealerships are very happy to arrange a loan for you. First, you choose the vehicle you want, test drive it and make the decision to buy it. The majority of car dealerships is honest and will gladly help you find a way to save money on a car loan. Be sure the dealer you select has a reputation for placing customer satisfaction first.
Naturally, a salesperson may want to sell you the more expensive models, but you should stay focused on your goal of getting the most for your money and saving money on your car loan.
Car loan installment calculation : Calculator100% car loan- monthly installment calculation.
Have you noticed that everyone seems to have a newer car than you? There's good news. You can find a way to upgrade your old clunker to a newer model. There are many ways to save money on your car loan. Lenders are competing for your business, and more and more car loans are approved to allow more people than ever to buy a car.
So now that you've decided to buy a newer car, the question on how to pay for it arises. If you're like most people, you don't have the cash needed to buy a new car. The other option is to borrow the money. There are certain guidelines to follow which could help you save money on a car loan. Careful planning, comparison-shopping and persistence are necessary to find the best deals.

Car Refinance Example
If you financed a car loan for $20,000 over 5 years at an interest rate of 17.32% APR, the car loan payments would be $500.50 per month. If you were able to refinance this auto loan after twelve months and decreased the interest rate to 12.43% APR, the monthly car payment would drop to $457.80. By refinancing your auto loan, you would save $42.70 per month. This equates to a savings of $2,049.60 over the remaining 48 months of the loan, assuming all of the installments were paid on their due date.

Needed to Refinance a Car Loan
Refinancing Your Current Auto Loan
What is auto refinancing? Refinancing a car is a similar concept as refinancing a home. When you refinance a car loan, you pay off your current car loan and replace it with a refinance car loan with a new lender at a different (generally lower) rate. If you have purchased a car and were given a loan with a high interest rate, you may want to think about refinancing your auto loan for a lower interest rate. Refinancing your existing car loan can save you money each month by lowering your car payments.
Is an Appraisal Needed to Refinance a Car Loan?
Some people think an appraisal is required to refinance their auto loan. This is not true. When you refinance your home, you do need to have an appraisal since the loan is based on the equity in the home. With auto refinancing, the loan is based on how much money you need to pay off your current car loan, not on the value of the car.
Bad Credit Auto Loan Refinance
If you had credit problems, refinancing a car loan might be a good option for you. You may have accepted an auto loan with a high interest rate because of a bad credit history. But, if you have maintained a stable job since you bought the car and have been making consistent, on time payments for a year or more, you may be able to lower your current interest rate. It's worth looking into it.

Malaysia firm's 'Muslim car' plan: Proton Newest Model
By Robin Brant BBC News, Kuala Lumpur |
Proton believes it may have found a huge gap in the market |
Proton is planning on teaming up with manufacturers in Iran and Turkey to create the unique vehicle.
The car could boast special features like a compass pointing to Mecca and a dedicated space to keep a copy of the Koran and a headscarf.
The idea came during a visit to the Middle East by a delegation of Malaysian politicians and businessmen.
Malaysian press reports say officials in Iran originally suggested the idea.
Safety features or fuel economy is one way of selling a car, but Proton thinks vehicles designed specifically for Muslims across the world represent a huge gap in the market.
Proton is the most dominant car on the streets here but the company has suffered recently after the government allowed more foreign cars to be imported.
The firm has been in talks recently with VW about a takeover by the German car giant.Perdana V6 latest model
The design wise look wow, stunning, provided the price is affordable for Malaysia. The Perdana V6 owner had have enough of the previous model. The second look however, it remind me of Renault of Citroen design. Or it is just face lift of these cars. It think it about time for Proton to consider new changes of Perdana face lift.

Torque at an engine speed of 3,000rpm is 139Nm, while the barebones Campro only delivered 128Nm of torque at that engine speed. The latest Gen-2 facelift offers 4 colors - Nandu Black, hibiscus Tea, Metal Gray and Irisdescent white.
CPS, Cam Profile Switching..what??
Cam Profile Switching (CPS) technology has significant effect on drivability, exhaust emissions and fuel consumption. New legislative requirements for the exhaust gas emissions regulations imposed recently by the State of California and the Environmental Protection Agency demand the ability to conduct a continuous monitoring of the state of CPS (Cam Profile Switching System). This, in its turn, requires to have an effective diagnostic method for identification of the system failure. The valve lift event can not be directly measured and special diagnostic algorithms, based on indirect information about the valve lift, are required to identify a failure in the system.
Several methods which allow detecting the CPS state are known. The first one is based on the difference in the air charge inducted in the cylinders for different lifts. The inducted air charge measured by Manifold Air Flow (MAF) sensor is compared with the air charge model based on the measured position of the throttle flap, intake manifold pressure and engine speed. The CPS state is associated with the error between measured and modelled air charge,The drawback of the method described in US 6213 068 is that the method does not allow the cylinder individual failure detection. It is furthermore not suitable for the detection of the failure of a one bank either due to the relatively small difference in volumetric efficiency for the case of a single Bank failure.
Another method is based on the combustion state monitoring using fluctuations of the engine speed. The method is based on the fact that the combustion state changes considerably during shifting, US 6 006 152. The invention uses the technique of the combustion state monitoring via irregularities of the engine speed. Irregularities are associated with the CPS state. The method allows the cylinder individual failure detection. The method uses the torque estimation technique which is well known in the literature devoted to the combustion efficiency monitoring functions.
Another group of methods proposes to associate the CPS state with the fluctuations of the intake manifold pressure signal. The closest invention which proposes to recover the intake valve timing information from the pressure signal is disclosed in the US 5495830. The method for control and monitoring of the check valves is described in US 5495830. Intake valve closing events which are determined via the pressure change allow to estimate an amount of the backflow into the intake runner where the check valve is controlled to minimize the backflow effect. To realize the algorithms proposed in the US 5495830 the pressure sensor is required in every intake passage which increases the cost of the system.
New Proton MPV
Proton is currently performing on-road tests of the new MPV and is either employing a well known disguise technique of using the body of another similiar vehicle to hide the underpinings of a car being tested, or is currently performing powertrain testing with a body of a similiar weight and size.
If you have a look at the photos, you will see that the interior features the Toyota Wish dashboard, but it has a Proton steering wheel। The interior seems to have a bad fit and finish - weird gaps here and there very atypical of a Toyota. Look at the area around the left-most air conditioning vent as well as the area where the dash meets the center tunnel which runs between the two front seats. The dash could be looking that way because it has been adapted to fit the Proton MPV’s interior. If you look closely, there’s nothing where the dash-mounted shift lever is supposed to be - in this mule’s engine bay is very likely a Proton powertrain and gearbox.

Tuning
Tune-up is an old-fashioned maintenance term that's nearly non-existent today. With electronic ignition and fuel injection came the oxygen sensor and computers that took over control of engine settings. Early versions allowed for some adjusting, but today's engines require professional grade equipment and training. You can replace normal maintenance parts and still see improved engine performance. Here are common maintenance parts you can replace to dramatically increase performance and lessen the risk major problems, such as premature catalytic converter failure. Ignition Parts All spark plugs should be removed and checked every 30,000 miles and be changed at 60,000 miles. This prevents the plugs from seizing in the block, causing more expensive repairs in the future. Always note which plug came from which cylinder. This tells you if a particular cylinder has a problem. The distributor cap and the rotor usually, deteriorate with age and use. Cracks may develop, allowing moisture in. The metal contacts on both can then corrode, causing misfiring. These parts should be replaced at recommended time periods or if showing any excessive wear. Spark plug wires should be inspected for cracks and brittle coverings. These are not replaced as often as in the old days because of the improved materials being used in the wire itself. Engine, Fuel , & Air Filters Many experts believe that changing filters on a regular basis may have more to do with your car's long life than any other single factor. Oil filters are easy to replace and help prevent unnecessary engine wear. The job of the oil filter is to remove soot, rust particles and other solid contaminants from the oil. Oil filters should be replaced with engine oil every 3,000 miles. Air filters remove dirt by trapping particles as air passes through the filter media. They also protect the carburetor in older cars, preventing dirt from clogging the air bleeds and metering jets. They protect fuel injectors in later-model autos. Air filters should be replaced every 20,000 miles but more often if you live or drive in dusty areas. Any filter that looks heavily loaded should be replaced regardless of the number of miles. The PCV breather filter assures only clean, filtered air is drawn in through the air cleaner. A clogged breather filter prevents the PCV from siphoning away the blowby gases and moisture created by engine combustion, resulting in oil breakdown and sludge buildup. The PCV breather filter should be replaced every 30,000 miles. Fuel Filter eliminates contaminants that can get into your fuel system and can clog the injector inlet screens. In older cars, dirt can plug the carburetor's fuel metering orifices. If the fuel filter is not replaced regularly, fuel flow to the engine will become restricted, resulting in stalling, loss of high speed power and hard starting. The fuel filter should be replaced every 30,000 miles or whenever other fuel system parts are replaced. Automatic Transmission Filter will make sure that transmission fluid transmits energy and cools & lubricates the moving parts of the transmission. A clogged transmission filter can produce transmission slippage, engagement problems and hesitation. Experts recommend this filter be changed every 12,000-15,000 miles.

Proton BLM model car
18-01-2008: Unique demo helps boost BLM bookings
by Surin Murugiah
PETALING JAYA: Proton Holdings Bhd’s bold, unprecedented move to show the public how its latest car, the base line model (BLM) or Proton Saga replacement model, is assembled has helped boost bookings to 5,500 units before its official launch today. Proton managing director Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said the teasers at various spots in the Klang Valley helped pique buyers’ interest and attract bookings for the BLM model since its soft launch early this year. In a telephone interview with The Edge Financial Daily, Syed Zainal said Proton wanted to make the launch more interesting and wanted to demonstrate to the public on how the car is built, right from the drawing board to the final touches to the end product. The move by Proton also sparked debates on the Internet, with the majority of participants approving it as a refreshing move away from the conventional display in shopping malls. On the Persona model unveiled last year, Syed Zainal said more than 22,000 units had been registered so far. “We are happy with the demand for the Persona, and bookings are still strong. The BLM model will complement the Persona range and not become a competition. “The new models will hopefully drive more people into our showrooms as both are very good products, and this in turn would help improve earnings,” he said. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will launch the BLM model or Saga today. Automotive analysts have said that the new 1.3-litre model could help turn the fortunes of the national carmaker due to its extremely competitive price range starting from RM31,000. Meanwhile, Proton Edar Dealers’ Association (PEDA) deputy president Armin Baniaz Pahamin told The Edge Financial Daily that its members had received more than 4,000 bookings for the BLM and in excess of 25,000 bookings for the Persona. He said PEDA members’ sales had also improved more than 300% year-on-year so far with some of its bigger members averaging 38 units of Proton cars a month.
